As you may have heard, we lost a sister over the summer.
Here is a look at Kris Drake's life and contributions:

Coachella Valley Alumnae Panhellenic (CVAP) member Kristine K. Drake (Kris) passed away in Palm Springs, CA, on September 22, 2014.  She was buried at Green Hills Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, on October 6, 2014.

Kris, a Kappa Delta, has actively served CVAP every year since she joined in 2009. She was the newsletter editor/publisher and website manager; assistant treasurer; 1st vice president programing; and, most recently was “pink card” chairman.

A career educator for over 30 years, she retired in 2009. Kris taught in the Palm Springs Unified School District at the elementary and secondary levels, as well as San Bernardo State University as an adjunct professor. A personal highlight in her academic education was when she earned her doctorate from Pepperdine University in Education Technology.

Initiated into Kappa Delta sorority at San Diego State University, she became an active member of the CV Alumnae Association and was a past president. She was active in the Palm Springs branch of the American Association of University Women; Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (past president of Palm Springs’ chapter and held state leadership positions); and a local California Association of Retired Teachers division, of which she was recently elected president.

Kris’ sudden death shocked friends and colleagues when her death. “Communications of love, respect and admiration continue to come in.  The sharing of her willingness to serve at tasks, no matter how big or small, her fun-loving, can-do spirit, flows through the airwaves.”  ~ Pat Mauritzon

Donations in her memory may be made to scholarship programs she supported namely, CalRTA Division 89, Delta Kappa Gamma/Theta Zeta Chapter, Coachella Valley Alumnae Panhellenic, and The Othel Britton Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

A celebration of Kris’ life will be held in Palm Springs and an announcement will be made by her family prior to the event. All are welcome to attend.
